When and how should I download the data contained on the chip on the driver’s card?

The data contained on the card’s chip must be downloaded in the following cases:

  • When the driver leaves the company.
  • When so requested by the competent authority.
  • When the card expires.
  • Before returning the card to the issuing authority.
  • At least every 31 days to guard against overwriting.

In order to do so, the manufacturer of the digital tachograph must provide the necessary software for electronically downloading the information to an external computer, or the digital tachograph’s own printer can be used.

The data contained on the vehicle’s tachograph must be downloaded in the following cases:

  • Before transferring the vehicle or conceding its use, or before the vehicle is returned to the leaser, in the case of a leased vehicle.
